Let the DEED show
Rather than boasting about the distinctive qualities of his Aberlour single malt, our founder, James Fleming remained true to his family’s motto since the days of Robert the Bruce, ‘Let the deed show.’ The proof is in the drinking.
This saying simply translates as, ‘actions speak louder than our words’. James Fleming let his whisky do the talking. It was his actions then, and the actions now of all our craftsmen that define the character of Aberlour.
A longstanding legacy
Our founder James Fleming, built the Penny Bridge after a young boy’s life was claimed by the fast-flowing Spey. He was the type of man who looked for no reward or recognition for his kindness.
Nothing but barley
Purity matters to us very much and we inspect carefully each malted barley delivery to make sure that it contains barley of the finest quality.
Drop of luck
Every year we pour a bottle of 12-year old Aberlour into the Spey to mark the beginning of the salmon fishing season in February. The water blessing encourages a good fishing season for the locals.
Virtue of Slow
Twelve years sleeping in Sherry and American Oak casks is how our hero whisky matures to an almost unfathomable complexity. You can’t rush the silent sleep nor the depth of our taste.
