Les Feuillantines - La Defense
Overlooking the River Seine, in the
Manhattan-like district of La Defense, west of Paris, Les Feuillantines
is a restaurant as well as a bar. Owner Jean-Paul Chassang has
dedicated his life to whisky. He has got the most incredible collection
of rare bottlings. You can choose between not less than 400 items
(including the full Aberlour range). And when you order a pre-
or after-dinner dram, Jean-Paul brings the bottle to the table
and lets you help yourself. Very special indeed. The food is highly
recommended. Do not skip his whisky and chocolate cake.

Jazz Club Lionel Hampton
- Paris
One should not think that bourbon suits jazz better than
scotch. Sipping an Aberlour 10 while listening to a good New Orleans
Jazz Band is a perfect combination for enjoyment. Recently refurbished,
the bar has taken the colours of the night: a soothing dark blue.
Head barman Philippe Marois is a knowledgeable single malt aficionado.
I like to take friends here in the afternoon, and propose them
a liquid discovery of Scotland. Much more exciting than a tea
room! Open every day from 7am to 2am.

The Auld Alliance - Paris
When in Paris, if you fancy a good
dram, go to a Scottish pub. Or rather to the unique Scottish pub
in Paris. Every evening, the Happy Hour is the gathering point
of homesick Caledonians who seek comfort in their favourite malt,
whether it be a seaweedy Highlander or a honeyish Speysider. On
rugby days, beer and whisky flow while Ewan, a cheerful piper
and regular of the Auld Alliance, plays a very special version
of French Cancan. The plus Point: a good malt list with classics
as well as outsiders (a'bunadh is popular there) and a great atmosphere
on Friday and Saturday nights!
