Summer is Speyside's most serene season, but also
its busiest one. The small seaside villages along the beautiful
Moray coast come into their own, the long sandy beaches looking
their golden best in the sunshine.
Picturesque Findhorn Bay is the water sports capital
of the region, offering just about every aquatic activity you
can think of. Those who want to keep dry can stretch their legs
along the 40 or so miles of the Speyside Way, or play a round
or two of golf on some of Scotland's most stunning courses.
Highland Games are in full swing, manly grunts accompanying
the hammer throwing and caber tossing. Sword dancers nip between
the blades with alarming dexterity, and the sound of the pipes
is never far away.
Come the glorious 12th of August, the shooting fraternity
takes to the hills for what is one of the highlights of the Highland
year. Unless, of course, you happen to be a grouse.
